Taking Care of Diarrhea

Diarrhea is simply defined as frequent passing of watery stools. Uncontrolled and acute diarrhea has been known to be one of the most common cause of death in developing countries. In most cases these diarrhea last for a prolonged period of time. Lasting between 7 to 12 days, depending on their severity.

Based on World Health Organization (WHO) report, about 3.5 million deaths occur annually. These deaths are said to have been caused by diarrhea. The statistics show that about 80 percent of these deaths were children under the age of 5 years old. This indicates that children are more at risk, due to the dehydration that goes along with diarrhea.

Causes of diarrhea:

Sometimes, diarrhea is followed by abdominal cramps. Diarrhea is mostly caused by food infection, led by unclean cooking or food storage environment. It could also be caused by food allergy. In any of theses situations, the intestine could easily become inflamed and in the instance leads to diarrhea.

Diarrhea treatment:

Frequent loss of body fluid caused by diarrhea causes dehydration. That is importantly why a sufferer should constantly replenish the lost body fluid. This has to be taken care of, as quickly as possible, in order to necessitate a prompt recovery.

Foods like Yogurt, Buckwheat, Carrots, Blueberries, Rice, Asparagus, and Blackberry juice may help with the treatment of diarrhea. When these measures don’t seem to be effective, see your doctor immediately. Delay could be dangerous. Your doctor may prescribe some medicine to help arrest the situation.
